Nabura na yung model number, gusto ko sana malaman kung anong model at year niya. Thanks in advance update: may nakita ako same model pero nabura rin yung model number. Its reasonable to guess yours is pre-1978, or from not too long after, if only because its still in very blatant O-18 knockoff mode.Aria was not the only guilty party: photo: rroodd CF Martin had actually subconned a budget Sigma line to Tokai Gakki in 1972, to counter a flood of such lower-priced knockoffs from Japan.
ElgerHoshino Gakki Gen (Ibanez) prompted many Japanese guitar manufacturers to shy away from blatant copying. Vintage Aria Acoustic Guitar Catalogue Series Seems ToArias AF series seems to have begun sporting the Aria logo (similar to the paper labels) once again, in the 1980s, instead of the Aria Co., eventually abandoning the Martin spatula headstock shape (although the knockoff-style logo and the shape would resurface in a series of dreadnoughts later). Matsumoku built guitars for customers other than Arai, and interestingly subconned some work to the Philippines in the late 70s, but its unclear what brand the output ultimately bore. Mats went under in 1987, after the bulk of its work went to Korean companies. Then again. you may already know all of that. Thanks for all the help Man, that sites a goldmine for postwar-to-1980s Japanese guitar enthusiasts. I also found a bunch of posts in various fora regarding dating of Aria acoustics, further reinforcing what Ive already posted: It seems that if your guitar had been built after 1979, it would have been possible to accurately date it, as the first two digits of the SN would have represented the year of manufacture, followed by 4 or 5 digits. ![]()
